Frequently Asked Questions
No. If you are an employer, then it’s vital that you take professional advice before making decisions on the next steps with an employee based on their health particularly when it comes to implementing appropriate adjustments for your business. Not all adjustments are ‘reasonable’ for every business so we don’t want you to take any action that isn’t appropriate for your business, your building and your financial circumstances. Having said that, if you employ a CIPD qualified HR professional or a qualified H&S advisor, then they can access the system. If you want to use Intelligent OH, then we have a list of approved HR advisors who can help you, on our website, so just contact one of them.
Yes, because it doesn’t matter how many people you employ – you still have to comply with equality and health & safety legislation.
You don’t know that – in the same way that you don’t know that they tell the truth to any occupational health advisor or to their GP. That doesn’t matter though because the critical thing is that you act on the information given – it’s not up to you to decide whether or not it’s genuine so don’t lose sleep over it.
The employer should know the reports that they need to do if they are in an industry which requires mandatory health surveillance, but if you need help, then message us and we will advise you.
No. Intelligent OH can advise on all conditions and symptoms.
If, as an Advisor, you consider that:
- the employee may have difficulty accessing or understanding online information
- there is a difference in understanding of the reason for referral
- you are looking at a potential ill-health dismissal or retirement
These cases are complex and need referral for an in-person consultation with an Occupational Health specialist – we have approved partners listed on our website.
Don’t worry – we have a list of approved advisors on our website so just give one of them a call and they will help you.
Don’t worry – send us a message – we reply really quickly!
We will respond as soon as we see your message which will usually be within an hour.
If you have a new starter, need to do periodic health monitoring or surveillance, or have an employee who has received a new diagnosis or is suffering with symptoms then use Intelligent OH.
For complex cases, such as those situations where you aren’t sure that an employee is ever going to return to work, then you will need to refer to an Occupational Health advisor for an assessment.
We have links to trusted Occupational Health providers on our Partners page.
Intelligent OH guides employees through self-assessment to consider their behaviours as symptoms. This means advisors can obtain the information that they need to consider in terms of compliance with the Equality Act and support employers through their decision-making.
Put simply, when you have a conduct issue and it’s out of character for the employee and severe enough that you are considering disciplinary action, maybe it’s something else. Maybe they are unwell, so use Intelligent OH to rule it out if nothing else. Think menopause symptoms, think pregnancy, think stress… sometimes we don’t realise how much our body is having an impact on our behaviour and there might just be a simple fix rather than disciplinary processes.
Intelligent OH is an audited clinical protocol modelled on a unique blend of evidence-based assessment and triage techniques to identify best possible outcomes and reduce unconscious bias in decision-making. Well, that’s the fancy way of saying it anyway… think of it as having a virtual qualified Occupational Health advisor – quick informed and rational decisions with no unconscious bias, in an instant!
